Jonathan Frias

Technical Director

Jonny Frias, born on May 31, 1979, in Argentina, brings over two decades of soccer management experience. He held the positions of Director of Coaching or Technical Director at three ECNL clubs in South Florida, overseeing their ECNL and ECNL Regional programs. Frias has a strong rapport with ECNL leadership and has contributed to coaching committees at the state and national levels.

Previously, he led American Heritage - Delray to a State Championship and multiple titles over four years. He received the Palm Beach Post's Coach of the Year award in 2018 and 2020. Frias also made significant contributions to FYSA and Virginia Youth Soccer in coaching education roles and is currently on course to participate in the US Soccer's B License Instructors Course beginning in 2024.

In his coaching journey, Frias worked with MLS Next, US Soccer DA, and MLS Pro Academy systems, notably with D.C. United for five years. While at DCU Academy, he coached various youth academy teams, including U14 and U16 for several years, and the U17s in prestigious competitions like the Generation Adidas Cup. Frias assisted the legendary Jaime Moreno for one season with the U23s in the NPSL.

Frias holds the USSF A License and Advanced National Diploma, earning the highest coaching licenses in the US. He had a notable playing career in the USL and PDL leagues, being honored as the Big South Conference Player of the Year in 2000 during his collegiate tenure at Radford University, as well as spending two seasons at the nationally ranked FIU in the 1997 and 1998 seasons.

Throughout his youth, Frias played for West Kendall Soccer Club (now called Miami Rush Kendall) in Miami, FL, cementing his roots in the sport from an early age. He was part of the first class of selections for the Project 40 pool and U17 USYNT pool. Frias attended Miami High School and was honored as All County and All State during his last two seasons, winning County Championships three out of his four years and finishing his senior year as a FHSAA State Runner-Up.
